August 27, 2026 And this is Where it Ends

On the banks of The Minnesota River at the cement bridge near mile 297, I will hang from my own spiderweb (my tent) off the side of the hill for the last time on this trip. Night brought little comfort. The sunset, albeit lovely, was still keeping us illuminated. Our furtive figures working to erect tents with no possibility of pounding stake into the cemented ground. This was our last night.

Yes, we know to “camp only in designated campsite, which are often available on a first come first served basis.”
From the inside the tent appeared three sided

Our paddle is almost ended. Rachel will be at our next stop by 4:00 PM. I guess it was pretty much what I expected. Good weather and friendship.

Old man river just keeps on rolling along

That said, I had problems with my blogging that nagged and bothered me the whole trip. We were not geographically isolated in any way. I could have sent a daily blog post. But my phone ran out of charge on the second day. Our chargers ran out of charge or we had the wrong connector, so we had limited picture time.

That behind us. I must say: I MISS THE RIVER. It’s good to be back in Ely with Terry. He is doing well. Steve and Terry are working well as a three armed partnership. And they found the right guys to finish the roof.
