February 21, 2021 Lassie Come Home

My UPS package was not delivered last night. When I checked the board of disappointment today, they reported that everything they received had been delivered. I must remember if I think I should order something DON’T. I really don’t need anything.

For over twenty years, I’ve had leg and feet cramps usually related to marathon training. I woke last night with perhaps my most painful leg camp ever. My calf was still painful in the morning. I thought it felt warm compared to my other calf. So I spent part of my morning researching DVT (deep vein thrombosis) VS leg cramp. I elevated my leg and put a heating pad on it just in case it was DVT. By 2.30 I lost interest and went for a run. Alls well. I’ll see what tonight brings.

Out the road, there was my dog. She ran into town with me three mile just like before. When she got ahead she’d sit on the side of the road and wait. She’s trying to make up for her fickleness.

  1. That is a very cute dog! I’m glad she came to her senses. Mukluk 2?
And those cramps! OMG! I have those too! I wake up screaming, it is sooo painful. My calf will be sore the whole next day – I dread those. I don’t run marathons, though. I read somewhere that it was a lack of liquid, i.e., not drinking enough water. Most water here tastes disgusting and I have to force myself to drink it. Does it way anything about fluid intake?

    1. I think this leg cramp episode seemed so bad because I sleep really soundly here. I woke up in this excruciating pain disoriented thinking someone was trying to saw my leg off. Sorry to hear that you suffer from them too. I have always heard that dehydration, plus low potassium and sodium levels contribute. How was your birthday? Sent from my iPhone

      1. Potassium and sodium. I’ll check that out. If I wake up early enough when a cramp start, I can generally prevent it by grabbing my toes and bending them upwards, but if I’m sound asleep, it’s just like you say. Incredibly painful.
That aside, my birthday was fabulous! Long walk with my daughter Kalai in the morning, we ran into a schoolfriend of hers from grammar school and had a long visit, then in the afternoon all of us kids/grandkids went for a bike ride along the coast and back through the upper harbor/Arana, and a delicious dinner in the evening. Happy camper!
