It took 2 hours to complete my errands today. I made it to the post office and the grocery store. Round trip it’s 2.7 miles. I went on foot pulling my sled with a tub to protect groceries from the cold.

I don’t know about the rest, but I’m guessing $1 for the orange? Getting fresh produce when I lived in Hawaii in the late 60s, it cost $1 for an apple. And it was an icky mushy apple ;(
I was so homesick.

So how much did you pay for yours? When we moved into our house 50 years ago it came with a navel orange tree. Still there and putting out amazing oranges. I don’t even remember when I last bought an orange.
Good night!

I had to look it up: $1.00 in 1966 is now $8.19! When I was an exchange student in Claremont, in south CA, I had friends who lived close by. The streets were lined with orange trees – I’d never imagined streets like that. And these kids would throw oranges at each other and just laugh and kick the oranges into the gutter. I was shocked. Growing up in Holland after the war, an orange is what you got for your birthday from your aunt. Treasured. I suspect kids at McGrath can relate to a certain extent.

This would be $16 at walmart, so I’m guessing $50.
